Short & Sharp Pitching Competition
What do we mean by a 'Pitch'?
A pitch is a verbal presentation used by filmmakers to convince potential investors to invest money or facilities in their project.
A pitch may include such information as the story, the characters, visual and aesthetic style, why this project will appeal to an audience and to which audience will it appeal.
It’s not necessary to tell the complete story. You may want to tell just enough to tantalise a potential investor.
The best pitches are clear, straightforward and make the potential investor want to see the project get made.
You don’t have to be a natural actor to be good at pitching. Use your own personality and let the strength of your idea, and your commitment to that idea, shine through.
Good luck!
What is a 'Treatment'?
A treatment is a document that tells the story of your project as it will appear on screen. It is usually written in the present tense, with little or no dialogue. The treatment will tell us who the main characters are, their relationship to each other and how they change and develop through the story.
The treatment will also indicate the genre, style and the aesthetics of your project. It will give the reader a strong idea of the look and sound of your project once it’s on screen.
For the purposes of ‘Short and Sharp’, the treatment is one page only.
